Godfrey’s Yard Waste Site Drop off Site Program will be SUSPENDED for the Winter’s Months

Press Release:  January 07, 2025

Effective today, The Village of Godfrey’s yard waste drop-off site, located at 1433 Stamper Lane, will be CLOSED for the winter.  If any Godfrey residents have full bags ready to be dropped off, please contact the Mayor’s office at (618) 466-3324, extension 1 and we will make arrangements to accept the bags for the next week.  Any existing stickers already purchased for the bags will be honored when the site re-opens this spring.

Madison County Upcoming Recycle Events

Madison County had schedule four E-cycling events for 2025 (Click Here to see Flier).   The four dates, all on Saturday, are April 12, 2025, June 14, 2025, August 23, 2025 and October 18, 2025.  Schedule times are in blocks of 15 minutes between 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.   Appointments are required and you must be a Madison County Resident.   If you have any questions about scheduling Madison County E-Cycling events – Contact 618-296-6647 or E-Mail to [email protected]

 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events

Madison County Household Hazardous Waste Collections – Will be held, Starting in 2025, on the second Saturday of each month.  Appointments are Required and you must be a resident of the State of Illinois.  The HHW Collections will be held at Madison County HHW Collection Facility, 249 N. Burning Regulations within the Village of Godfrey

Burning is restricted to only private property only:  NO BURNING IN STREETS OR GUTTERS

March, April, May, October, November and December residents may burn only landscape waste such as leaves, bush or branches on Wednesday and Saturday only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (2023 Calendar).  All fires must be supervised at all times.  Fires must also be out by 3:00 p.m. and not smoking after 3:00 p.m.  For a copy of the Village ordinance you may go to Municode.com or from the Village Clerk’s Office.


Village of Godfrey Yard Waste Drop-Off Program

Village of Godfrey Yard Waste Drop-Off Program will accept yard waste on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning on August 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Drop-off location is the Maintenance Shed west of Glazebrook Park – 1433 Stamper Lane (Click Here to view drop-off collection point).  To drop of yard waste you must provide proof of residency in the Village of Godfrey by providing a valid IL driver’s license or state ID showing Godfrey residency.  If the person is dropping off is doing so on behalf of a Godfrey resident, they must have a photo of the resident’s driver’s license/state ID AND a utility bill with matching address.  All yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, foliage, small branches, etc. must be bagged in brown recyclable yard waste bags found at area hardware stores.  Village of Godfrey yard waste stickers must be applied to each bag.  These stickers are available for purchase for $1.75 at St. Peter’s Hardware in Alton and at Godfrey Village Hall in the Clerk’s Office.  Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Monday thru Friday.  No unbagged items will be accepted, and limbs cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter and must be broken into smaller pieces in order to fit inside the bags.

Ordinance 002-2010

“No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any of the following described waters or wastes to any public sewer:” ( 5 ) Any outdoor landscape waste including but not limited to limbs,  leaves, plants, shrubs, dirt, mulch, garden vegetation or any other organic waste material generated from lawns, gardens,  trees, bushes or shrubs.
