WHAT: Investigating service line material for potential replacement with contractors. Seiler Excavating Inc. and Sheppard Morgan and Schwaab Inc.
WHERE: Various addresses in the City of Alton, Village of Godfrey and City of Jerseyville.
WHEN: Weather permitting the contractor Seiler Excavating Inc., will begin work on or about the week of July 1st and be completed by the end of December. Final street restoration will be completed in the fall of 2025.
Project Overview and what you can expect. Perform test pits at the curb. Investigating materials to the watermain and service lines along the pipeline route. This involves verifying your service line material. Since your service line is underground, this will require Illinois American Water to uncover a small section of the resident water service line near your property line. To perform this work, Illinois American Water contractor to dig a small hole, approximately 18 to 24 inches in diameter, on your property.
Flush household plumbing. Illinois American Water will provide the resident with instructions on how to flush your household plumbing before using tap water. It is important to read and follow these instructions. Pothole results. Illinois American Water will notify the resident of the results of the service line assessment. If your line qualifies for replacement, an Illinois American Water representative will contact you with more information, including the timeline and what you can expect as part of the process.
Restoration. Illinois American Water contractor will return to perform the final paving and any necessary restoration of the concrete, driveway, grass, and landscaping.
