2021 Great Godfrey Maze Employment: Accepting applications for the positions of Hay Wagon Drivers, Cow Train Drivers and Security – Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to work weekends. Also accepting applications for the positions of Maze Managers, Assistant Maze managers, and Corn Cops – Applicants must be 15 years of age and have a valid work permit through the State of Illinois. And accepting applicants for Haunters inside the Haunted Maze – Applicants must be 16 years of age.
Spring/Summer Seasonal Worker: These positions will perform a variety of maintenance duties pertaining to the overall operation of grounds and facilities located in the Parks as well other Village owned facilities and are seasonal and/or part-time in nature.
The availability of positions varies throughout the year with the highest volume of hiring occurring in February and May.
Duties for these positions include (but are not limited to): maintenance and preparation of athletic fields, mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, other manual tasks, manual labor including lifting heavy materials and working in adverse weather conditions, janitorial functions in restrooms and park facilities to maintain a clean environment, including litter pick up and disposal, set up for special events and athletic games, including grooming the fields, operate equipment such as park vehicles, mowers, tractors, etc.; other duties as assigned for the benefit of the Parks and Recreation Department.
• 16 years of age or older
• Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people
• Qualities such as competence, independence, self-sufficiency, dependability
• Ability to walk, run, stand, and sit and complete a variety of motor skills
• Ability to lift and carry 30-70 pounds regularly
• Ability to hear and see well
• Valid driver’s license in good standing (clean driving record)
• Ability to work staggered shift assignments as necessary including evenings and weekends
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet and/or other unpleasant outdoor conditions
• Ability to use or learn to use a variety of tools and equipment
• Strong customer service skills
• Must be self-motivated and be productive with limited supervision
• Regular attendance
