Rookie Sports
Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department’s rookie sports development programs are designed to assist young children 3-5 years old in learning the basic skills necessary for a successful first-time experience in organized sports activities. Rookie programs focus on parent participation as an integral part of their child’s learning process. Parents participate one-on-one with their child under the guidance of an instructor. Participants will develop their motor skills though different skilled sports activities in a non-competitive atmosphere. The fundamentals of each sport will be covered, including an emphasis on teamwork. Positive reinforcement will be used to build self-esteem and encourage good sportsmanship.
